INTERIOR
Subaru Forester

When you’re traveling with your crew, you want to ensure everyone on board has the room they need to be comfortable regardless of how long or how far you travel. Fortunately, both the Forester and the RAV4 oblige.

Optimal Comfort for Your and Your Crew

The Subaru Forester offers seating for up to five people with 111.6 cubic feet of passenger room. That's plenty of space for everyone on board to stretch out. The driver and front passenger can enjoy 41.2 inches of headroom and 43.3 inches of legroom. Meanwhile, passengers in the back seats will be able to relax with 39.6 inches of headroom and 39.4 inches of legroom.

The Toyota RAV4 also has two rows of seats and room for up to five people, but it doesn't offer as much space. There's only 98.9 cubic feet of passenger room, which makes both the front and back rows feel less spacious. Up front, there's only 37.7 inches of headroom and 41 inches of legroom. The second row has just 39.5 inches of headroom and 37.8 inches of legroom.

Enough Room for Your Gear

The Forester also offers extra space for your cargo. With the back seats folded flat, it has up to 74.2 cubic feet of cargo room. The Toyota RAV4 also has folding seats but can only provide 69.8 cubic feet of cargo room.

PERFORMANCE
Subaru Forester

If you want to try new things and explore new places, the Forester and the RAV4 are excellent companions. Both models have the statures and capabilities needed for the great outdoors; however, which model will make driving on various terrain the easiest?

Handle Every Obstacle the Road Throws Your Way

To have a safe and stable drive in any road or weather conditions, the Subaru Forester comes with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This drivetrain helps grip the road with the Traction Control System and X-MODE®. This feature adjusts to the terrain you're driving on and offers selectable driving modes.

The Toyota RAV4 offers all-wheel drive, but front-wheel drive is standard. Although an available drive mode select system is available, it goes without similar off-road features like the Subaru’s.

Built for the Off-Road

The Forester is also prepared to tackle steep hills, bumpy roads, and go through streams. Its 8.7-inch ground clearance gives it a 22.9-degree approach angle for a better ride.

The Toyota RAV4 sits slightly lower to the ground. Its 8.4-inch ground clearance limits the kind of terrain it can travel across by dropping its approach angle down to just 19 degrees.

SAFETY
Subaru Forester

Of course, whether you’re going solo or have your entire crew along for the ride, safety is always top priority. Subaru and Toyota know this, which is why they’ve equipped the Forester and the RAV4 with safety suites.

Smart Safety That Always Has Your Back

On top of its standard All-Wheel Drive, the Subaru Forester comes with lots of safety features that will help keep you and your loved ones free from harm. EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology comes standard and gives you more awareness. It can help prevent accidents with features such as:

  • Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering
  • Lane Departure and Sway Warning
  • Pre-Collision Braking
  • Pre-Collision Throttle Management
Next-Level Driver Safety

There's even technology to monitor how you're driving. The available DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System can sense when you're drowsy or distracted and remind you to focus on the road or take a break from driving.

The Toyota RAV4 also has a standard safety system—Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5—which includes several similar driver-assist features. However, it doesn't offer the added protection of a driver-monitoring system that can tell when you're tired or not paying attention.
